Applications Sulphonated Oil SS Sulfonated oils are anionic surfactants, a yellow to reddish brown liquid that is soluble in water. They have properties like wetting, dispersing, emulsifying as well as lubricating. Sulfonated oils SS are a new type sulfonated liquid fatliquoring materials prepared from natural vegetable oil by sulfur trioxide membrane sulfonation. It can either be fatliquored on its own or combined with other fatliquors. It can make leather feel soft and plump, is compatible with many other fatliquors, and can also be mixed to create new types of leather fatliquor. Sulfonated SS oil has a high permeability. After fat is added, leather becomes soft, plump and oily. It will not migrate through the leather fibers and will not produce an oily cream or oil spots. It has a good emulsification, stability and can improve fatliquors which have poor emulsification or stability. Its compatibility with other fatliquoring material has made it a popular new material used in the production of high and medium grade fatliquors by leather chemical plants. Sulfonated Oil is used widely in the textile, leather, metal, paper and other industries. It is also used as a emulsifier in agricultural preparations.
